I recently discovered the work of El Salvador born illustrator Rachel Katstaller and was immediately enticed by her distinguished and enchanting illustrative style. Her impressive portfolio is filled with quirky characters and plant filled landscapes, all presented with a gorgeous hand drawn authentic feel.
My favourite project from Rachel is this piece entitled La Casita. The illustration depicts a mysterious house found in the jungle and was used as a finalist in the Hispanic International Children’s Art Festival. The piece incorporates a balanced colour palette full of varying tones of navy and peach, with the slight transparency of the overlapping leaves giving the illustration bags of personality.
